After Maine, we drive eight-hours north to Prince Edward Island (PEI), a tiny island off the coast of New Brunswick in Canada with a population of approximately 140,000 residents. We've been hoping to visit PEI, the home of Anne of Green Gables, since kids, and the fact that Munchies included PEI in their hilarious Matty Matheson-hosted series "Keep it Canada" only sealed the deal. In addition to their delicious, fresh and cheap seafood, one of coolest things about PEI is their lighthouses, which appear around every corner along beautiful stretches of coastal beaches. Each lighthouse is unique, with individual colors and patterns shaped by the ocean, wind and sand.
We spent our entire week on PEI chasing these lighthouses, hoping to hit as many as we could. But with more than 60 lighthouses on the island, we only managed to hit a handful. If you're ever lucky enough to visit PEI, we strongly recommend spending a day or two driving along the coast and checking out these incredible pieces of architecture and the gorgeous seaside scenery surrounding each one.
