The Frying Pan

Outdoor bars are a coveted attraction in New York City, unlike in Paris, where every restaurant, bistro, bar and cafe has outdoor seating. One of the most popular outdoor watering holes is the Frying Pan, a multilevel floating lighthouse bar docked at Pier 66 next to Chelsea Piers. With its beautiful views of the Hudson River, New Jersey and Lower Manhattan, this is the perfect place to hang out with coworkers for happy hour after work or with your friends on a Friday night. But, because of its popularity, the Frying Pan is usually packed and rowdy, especially during the summer. So when we stopped by on a brisk Sunday afternoon in October, we found it a surprisingly good date night spot. With only a few groups casually drinking and even families grabbing dinner, we easily found a table and caught a gorgeous sunset while munching on buffalo wings and sipping Pumpkin ales. Definitely worth enduring a few cool breezes for!
