Fireworks Over the East River

Living in New York City, you never know what you'll stumble upon. On our way home from a typical Sunday night grocery run, we heard deafening booms by the East River and saw bright flames shooting in between the buildings. Realizing there was a seemingly random fireworks show happening along the water, we raced home, dropped our groceries off, grabbed our photography equipment and sprinted towards the pier. We quickly discovered that these fireworks were being held in honor of Diwali, an ancient Hindu festival of light. Happy to join in on the Diwali celebrations, we were lucky to catch the finale of the show and grab this beautiful shot. A great way to cap off the weekend.

Happy Diwali!
