While walking around Chelsea Market, we stumbled upon Doughnuttery, a cute bakery serving mini doughnuts in a variety of interesting flavors including Purple Pig--with maple, purple potatoes and bacon, Rosemary Road--with rosemary, roasted cornmeal and fig, and Fruity Breakfast Cereal--with Fruity Pebbles and granulated sugar. We stuck with more traditional flavors for our first visit--Cacaoboy, Urban Monkey, Lemon Pop and PB&J--which were all delicious.

Unfortunately, other than Lemon Pop, our favorite, the  varieties weren't as dramatic as their descriptions suggested.

The freshness of the doughnuts, though, made the visit worthwhile. If you've ever been to the Krispy Kreme factory, you'll recognize their process of the fresh dough frying and flipping in the glorious oils and fats, right in front of your eyes.

And, if you can wait that long, we recommend taking your treats to High Line Park, around the corner, for a sweet break with a view.
